Objective

The student:
- can solve problems with percentage change, index, inflation, deflation, and currency calculation
- is able to conduct interest rate- and VAT calculations, as well as pricing calculations
- can calculate interest rate, periodic payments, and credit with a spreadsheet programme
- is familiar with basic concepts in investment calculation and can perform investment calculations with a spreadsheet programme
- understands how optimization problems in financial mathematics are solved with spreadsheets

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student can solve simple tasks related to percentage change and understands the concepts of index and inflation.

The student can convert from one currency to another, perform simple VAT calculations, and pricing calculations.

The student can calculate the amount of interest and solve simple tasks involving compound interest.

The student is familiar with basic concepts of investment calculations and can solve simple optimization problems

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student understands how to formulate expressions for percentage change and can calculate and compare different types of indices.

The student can set up expressions for converting between different currencies and perform more advanced VAT calculations and pricing calculations.

The student can calculate the new capital amount.

The student understands and can perform annuity calculations.

The student can prepare an investment calculation and understands how optimization problems in financial mathematics are solved using calculation software.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student can solve more complex problems involving percentage calculations and different types of indices.

The student can solve more complex problems that include currency calculations, VAT calculations, and pricing calculations.

The student can solve more complex interest problems and compound interest problems using a spreadsheet program.

The student can prepare more complex investment calculations using a spreadsheet program and set up and solve more demanding optimization problems.
