Objective
Students will
- have insight into different business models in the music industry. This includes different streaming services, live concerts, merchandise and sponsorship.
- can market themselves as a musician, create a strong online presence and manage PR-related activities.
- is familiar with different distribution channels for music, including digital platforms, record labels, publishing companies, and how to reach out with your product
- masters financial and budget planning for a music production
- have knowledge of different markets and cultures in the music industry
- is familiar with legal rights and obligations in the music industry
Content
- Historical overview of the music industry
- Current trends and challenges
- Business models and revenue streams:
Streaming services, music file sales and physical products.
- Live concerts, sponsorship and merchandise
- Marketing and PR for musicians
- Social media and PR-related activities
- Distribution and sales:
Digital distribution via platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube
- Record labels, publishers and self-publishing
- Music industry finance and budget planning
- Networking and collaboration with other musicians, producers and industry experts

Flexible teaching using a combination of remote studies and studies on location.
Guest lecturers and master courses will be held remotely when pedagogically motivated, in order to reduce travels and emissions.
