Objective

The student:
* possesses adequate knowledge of structural mechanics in order to perform construction planning of bearing constructions which comply with normal requirements in construction class 2 (degree of difficulty 2) as expressed in the National Building Code of Finland (part A2) and Eurocode and according to the national Land Use and Building Act § 120 d and e (17.1.2014/41) normal and difficult tasks
* can solve standard problems in structural mechanics with numerical methods
* can solve equations, differentiate and integrate numerically using mathematical tools and software

Content

Core material: The elemental method, Angle change method, Building mechanics in practice
Calculations by hand, with tables and with simple calculation programs

Other professional skills that are practiced:
To make clear and stylish calculations that can easily be shared and understood by everyone in an international project team
To be able to present their calculations
To know the subject area's concepts and terminology in several languages
To seek suitable sources to expand their knowledge in the subject area
