Descriptions

This further education is designed so that it, in combination with previous engineering degree in technology or construction, and suitable work experience, gives eligibility for demanding HVAC design, with a focus on carbon-neutral construction of healthy houses. Courses mainly consists of HVAC technology and HVAC design, that are part of the graduate engineering program at Novia Campus in Raseborg, supplemented by individual tasks in HVAC design. This further education in HVAC design however does not give a degree.

An important goal in this further education is that it prepares you to take a central role in creating sustainable and climate-smart buildings. Issues related to sustainability and a more climate-smart society are included in the courses. Of the UN's 17 goals for sustainable development according to AGENDA 2030 objectives 3 (Good health and well-being), 6 (Clean water and sanitation), 7 (Affordable and clean energy), 11 (Sustainable cities and communities and 13 (Climate action) are most central in this further education.

The education is part-time studies and can be carried out in addition to work, with the studies evenly distributed over the period August 2021 to December 2023.

Further information

The total extent of the further education is 75 credits.

The further education includes studies in HVAC-areas that, combined with an bachelor degree in civil engineering or construction engineering or any other appropriate technical field, or a HVAC, construction or mechanical engineering degree meet the study achievement requirements for competence in demanding design tasks of ventilation and the water and sewage systems of a building in accordance with the Finnish Ministry of the Environment's instructions on the competence of building designers (YM2/601/2015).

Objective

Students gain knowledge in HVAC design, so that they can start working with HVAC technology and design, and that in combination with previous suitable degree and work experience can achieve eligibility requirements to be responsible designers for demanding HVAC design tasks.
