Objective
The student
- knows how tree stocks in forests develop during a cycle and how they need to be managed in order to achieve profitable timber production
- has acquired basic knowledge of timber trade, timber harvesting and timber measurements
- has an understanding of their own effectiveness and ability in forest work in order to be able to calculate profitability for different types of sales and various forms of contract work
Content
Traditional forest management for the entire life cycle
Most of the time resources are spent on method selection regarding work in connection with renewal and for the management of younger forest stocks.
Factors that influence the price of wood for different qualities in sales
Methods for woodworking and machinery and implements that are planned and designed for the forestry management of the farm
Measurement of wood stock quantities
Qualifications
No previous knowledge required
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
50 % of the points in the written exam for a grade on the acceptable level (grade 0 - 5)
The grade for the project result will be strongly influenced by the students ability to implement the achieved theoretical knowledge into practice
