Objective

The Student:
- demonstrates familiarity with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) and understands the legal rights to rehabilitation and/or habilitation
- distinguish between key concepts such as disability, functional variation, impairment, functional capacity, functional rights, and disability policy
- demonstrates knowledge of the care and support needs of individuals with physical, psychological, or intellectual disabilities
- provides empathetic, person-centered care and support to individuals with special needs and their families.
- recognizes and understand the most common disabilities, as well as the fundamental nursing interventions and support required
- applies appropriate guidance and support strategies for individuals requiring special assistance, with sensitivity to individual capacities and needs
- demonstrates awareness of and responds appropriately to the needs of persons living with rare diseases
- understands the forms and signs of violence against persons with disabilities and the appropriate actions to take when violence is suspected
- plans and documents nursing care according to the Finnish Classification of Care (FinCC)

Assessment Criteria for Written Work

Despite following the instructions for the written work, the student demonstrates insufficient knowledge of both the subject matter and other students' work, with only a minimal understanding of key concepts.

The student demonstrates the ability to reference relevant literature, critically reflect, and justify their viewpoints effectively.

The student follows the given instructions for the written assignment but shows limited engagement with the work of other students. While the student demonstrates an understanding of their subject matter, the ability to apply knowledge in a broader context is limited.

Exceptional written work and participation in opposition may be characterized by outstanding technical execution, a compelling oral presentation, insightful reflections, and an independent approach to the assignment.
