Objective

The Student:
- can apply the nursing process and evidence-based practices in oncological, palliative, and end-of-life care
- demonstrates understanding of the ethical, legal, and cultural considerations relevant to end-of-life care
- can assess nursing care needs and plan, implement, and evaluate care using evidence-based knowledge
- is capable of documenting and planning nursing care following the Finnish Care Classification (FinCC) system
- recognizes and responds to the specific care needs of patients in oncological nursing
- recognizes and responds to the specific care needs of patients in palliative nursing
- demonstrates critical thinking and sound clinical decision-making in oncological and palliative care contexts
- understands and integrates ethical and cultural perspectives into oncological and palliative nursing care
- values the importance of empathetic interaction and can support, guide, and communicate with patients and their families throughout the care process

Content

Palliative nursing care: ethics and law, pain relief, symptom relief, suffering, and related symptoms
End-of-life nursing care: acceptance and communication, existential and psychosocial support for both the patient and relatives
The nurse's role in palliative nursing care and end-of-life nursing care
