Objective

The student:
- takes part in a multiprofessional team and creates a natural caring relationship with the patient
- understands Swedish or Finnish at an intermediate level when communicating with patients and colleagues. The main supervision is Swedish or Finnish
- developing individual communication skills with patients and colleagues In Swedish or Finnish
- demonstrates respect for the patient´s integrity and autonomy
- demonstrates the ability to support the patient in the rehabilitation process
- understands the importance of aseptic working methods
- demonstrates safe working methods
- under supervision and with increasing independence be able to assess the patient´s caring needs,
- understands the nursing plan for the medical patient
- can implement nursing activities in medical nursing care
- can document and report nursing activities and the patient´s condition in Swedish or Finnish
- be able to implement the underlying principles of medical nursing care at different wards
- develops evidence-based knowledge about common diseases and an understanding of the pharmacological treatment of the patient
- can perform safe drug administration under supervision
- can under the supervision and with increasing independence be able to perform safe oral- and intravenous drug administration, follow up on the effects, and act in accordance with the situation
- can perform necessary procedures when receiving and discharging a patient
