Objective

At the end of this course the student should:
-know the concept of Integrated Coastal Zone Management
-has basic knowledge of challenges in cross sectorial management of coastal areas
-can identify stakeholders and how to involve them in the management process
-understands how Maritime Spatial Planning can be used in sustainable coastal management
-is familiar with relevant policies and legislation

Content

The aim of the course is to make the students aware of how the management process of coastal communities and ecosystems work. We will look at relevant policy frame works and legislation and consider the possibilities and challenges of cross sectorial management and international cooperation. We will also identify different stakeholders and consider the possible ways these may influence the management process.
