Objective
After completing the course, the student can:
- Understand how frames are affected by forces and displacements
- develop necessary cutting forces, diagrams and displacements for frames and continuous beams
- create the calculation base in the relevant soft ware, for the calculation of forces for statically indeterminate structures
- possesses knowledge of structural mechanics in order to perform construction planning of bearing constructions according to Eurocode and the national Land Use and Building Act § 120 d and e (17.1.2014/41) normal and difficult tasks

Qualifications
Foundations in Construction Statistics with a grade of at least 3, Building Stability and FEM
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
Can calculate cutting forces and maximum deflection for statically indeterminate two-support beams using the Elementarfall method.
Can correctly read the cut forces from the frame cut force diagram.
Can calculate cutting forces and support reactions for continuous beam with the Angle change method.
Can calculate the cutting forces in continuous beams with the displacement method.
Knows other ways to determine crack length for rods than Euler's formulas.
Assessment criteria, good (3)
Can calculate cutting forces for simple frames with the Elementar case method.
Can calculate cutting forces for three-link frame.
Familiar with the static mode of action of arches.
Can calculate cutting forces and support reactions for frame without displacement with the Angle change method.
Can calculate cutting forces and displacement / deflection for continuous beam and one-storey frame with the displacement method.
Can do all calculations in a spreadsheet program.
Can calculate the crack length of rods in a different way than according to Euler's theory.

Can calculate cutting forces and make diagrams for these for three-frame frame.
Can calculate the cutting forces for arch construction.
