Objective
The student
- understands the meaning of the built environment for man and society as well as the importance of building conservation in the management of the built environment
- has deepened his/her knowledge of the principal building materials and construction solutions as well as the cost structure of a renovation project
- knows how to survey old properties and plan complementary building parts.
Content
The course deals with the systematics of studying and presenting inventory results of an existing property.
The properties that are being studied are owned by either the city, municipality or any public utility organization.
The project work is an exercise in how one should be able to work in a group at work: to take responsibility for their share in the whole, to keep timetables, to communicate and, of course, to work for a common goal.
The project always has a client and the finished report is presented to him with power point mm media.
1. We exercise inventory of the constructs of a real object
2. We write a report on the object for the client of the work
3. we use the TALO 2000 classification
4. We use literature and web-based sources on historical buildings
Qualifications
The educational modules Introduction to Building Techniques and Residential and Public Buildings, or similar knowledge
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
Students fulfill the objectives of the course, and in the relevant realization compulsory parts, at a satisfactory level
