Objective
After passing the course, the student is expected to:
- Be able to account for alternative energy sources that serve sustainable development and slow down climate change.
- Know the most current alternative forms of energy where a lot of research is being conducted at the moment.
- Be able to account for advantages and disadvantages regarding various alternative energy sources.
- Be able to account for local potential energy sources
Content
The research versus industry's view of future energy sources.
Guest lectures and exercises.
Most common alternative energy sources of today:
• Wind power
•Hydropower
• Solar power
• Biofuels
•Hydrogen
Qualifications
General Energy Technology
Hydromechanics and Thermal Physics
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
Has participated in all sessions.
The student describes theory formation and concepts partially flawed both in the exam, exercise assignments and in project calculations.
They do not use theory and concepts as well as mathematical derivations, formulas and tables correctly, to some parts, which gives incorrect calculation results for comparison, defense, decision and proof.
Assessment criteria, good (3)
The student uses theory formation and concepts in the exam, in exercises and in connection with project calculation assignments almost correctly. Calculations, comparisons, defenses and evidence have a good theoretical basis for application in practice.
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
The student bases his descriptions, calculations and arguments on relevant theory formation and the meaning of concepts.
Explanations in the exam, in exercise work and project calculations include motivations, comparisons and he takes a stand and gives suggestions for development. The calculations are correct.
