Objective
After passing the course the student is expected to:
- be able to apply design of steel structures according to current standards, taking into account static and dynamic loads.
- be able to consider abrasion and heat stress during construction assignments.
- be able to plan tools and fixtures used in the production of components.
- know the factors that affect the characteristics of the final product and be able to take into account the economic aspects that affect the production costs of components.

Knows the main principles for the design of statically loaded steel structures.
Knows about the cracking mechanism and the principles of dimensioning for a limited lifetime.
Knows the abrasion and creep mechanisms.
Knows valid standards for pressure-vessel designs and can apply them.
Knows about the use and importance of tools and fixtures in the industry and knows which aspects influence the design of tools.
Possesses basic drawing technical skills to help document the design tasks.
Understands the importance of documenting calculations.
Knows about the influence and role of tool technology in other parts of mechanical engineering

Can design various statically loaded sheet and beam structures.
Can design simple components for a limited service life.
Can consider abrasion and creep when choosing materials.
Knows about the EUROCODE standards in the area. Understands the structure of the standards
Can design pressure vessels according to current standards.
Understands the aspects that should be taken into account when designing tools and fixtures and be able to apply different design solutions.
Possesses the drawing technical knowledge required to model steel structures.
Can document calculations and designs in accordance with CE requirements.

Can independently calculate and dimension statically loaded sheet and beam structures.
Can determine the size of dynamic loads as well as calculate and dimension components based on these.
Is able to choose materials and design details exposed to abrasion or heat loads
Can independently design advanced pressure vessels according to the standards
Is able to plan and construct tools independently.
Can make complete drawings for producing demanding steel structures
Can independently document and report calculations and designs in accordance with CE requirements
Can analyze the technical and financial requirements that a product places on tool technology and can implement them in the manufacturing process of tools.
