Objective

The Student:
- can define key concepts in transfusion medicine and explain the immunological principles behind pre-transfusion testing
- understands relevant laws, regulations, and safety procedures in transfusion services
- is familiar with potential adverse effects of transfusion and corresponding interventions
- can explain the responsibilities of the Blood Service, hospital blood bank, and clinical wards
- can collect, handle, and store blood samples while considering pre-analytical factors
- can describe blood components and their clinical applications
- can perform basic blood typing and compatibility testing and interpret results
- can explain methodological principles and factors affecting test reliability
- can operate and maintain relevant laboratory equipment
- understands the clinical relevance of various blood group systems and transfusion practices
- applies principles of quality and sustainable development in transfusion services

The student has mostly followed the instructions for the written assignment and has mastered the substance of her/his work, but the application is limited. The student can ask relevant questions and can lead a discussion at the seminar.
