Objective

The students
- have skills in communication on basic level in Swedish or/and Finnish with patients
- have fundamental skills in the preanalytical phase that includes patient care, preparations, equipment and material, specimen types and collection methods
- realize the importance of good co-operation between the units in the caring community as a prerequisite for the good quality of laboratory tests
- consider patient safety, and occupational safety
- be aware of how to make sustainable choices in laboratory work

Content

Clinical laboratory practical training in phlebotomy

Spring 2026,
Group 1 weeks 12-14 and
Group 2 weeks 15-17

Teaching methods

3 weeks of clinical laboratory practice with focus on preanalytical steps and phlebotomy, seminar.

Information session before practice 3h
Practice at the laboratory 37,5h/week
practice assignments 2,5h/week
mandatory participation in practice seminar at campus 3h
