Objective
Knowledge and understanding
- Be able to relate their knowledge to developments in society and cultural history
- Be able to relate their knowledge to their own education in theatre and drama in education
- Be able to find and make use of background and reference materials
Skill and ability
- Be able to locate themselves within the history and development of theatre
- Have knowledge about different acting theories, theatre forms and theatrical traditions
- Be able to understand the history of theatre through historical, aesthetic, social and political perspectives
- Be able to apply this knowledge to their own teaching
Mindset and evaluation ability
- Use theatre history in order to expand their own repertoire when creating performances
- Be able to describe, analyse and reflect on theatre historical processess and theories relating to various fields: acting, direction, scenography, costumes, lighting, sound etc.
- Understand the basics of the art of acting in relation to different theories and praxes
- Have an increased understanding of the importance of the ensemble in the development of theatre
- Have an understanding for different ways of looking at theatre
