Objective

The student:
- knows the genetic foundations, goals and methods of forest tree breeding
- knows functions connected to the production of bred forest tree reproductive material and how the forest tree breeding is organized
- knows the seed classification as well as measures related to the seed procurement
- knows how a nursery works
- can compare different plant types, measures associated with their cultivation and quality requirements
- knows laws, regulations and directives related to the production, trade and distribution of reproductive material.

Legislation concerning trade in forest reproductive materials
Basics of forest tree breeding
Classification and quality requirements for seeds and seedlings
Production and trade in reproductive material
The course is based on several of the global sustainability goals, mainly the goal of Responsible consumption and production
