Objective

The student
- knows the physical, biological and chemical properties of arable land
- understands the importance of preserved and increased soil fertility
- knows regenerative cultivation methods
- knows the importance of arable land for the carbon balance

Content

Soil fertility
The physical properties of arable land, materiality and porosity, texture and structure
Ground packing
The biological properties of arable land, plant biomass, soil organisms and soil
The importance of soil content and soil conservation measures
Soil content changes
Green fertilizing
Chemical properties of arable land, cation exchange capacity, degree of base saturation, buffering, pH value
Liming
The course is based on several of the global sustainability goals, mainly the goals of Responsible consumption and production, Life on land and Climate action.
