Objective

The student:
- knows how to plan and realise collection of spatial information
- is able to produce geographical information for use in the natural resources sector
- knows how to find existing GIS information on the Internet

Content

GPS technology
Production of geographical information in a GIS program (ArcGIS, QGIS) by drawing map objects and add attribute data
How to use digital, web-based map material
Finding and downloading, processing and utilizing digital map material for visualization and basic GIS analysis
Production of maps in accordance with basic cartographic principles
Use of a mobile phone for localisation, navigation and data collection in the field
Knowledge of how GIS is utilized in nature resource management and in society at large
The course is based on several of the global sustainability goals, mainly the goal of Industry, innovation and infrastructure
