Objective
The student:
- is able to handle geographic data in a GIS program
- knows how to capture data using GPS and a mobile phone
- can analyze geographical environmental data using different data sources and methods
- can effectively visualize geographic information for different purposes
Content
This course will offer a basic understanding of Geographic Information Systems and their practical use, as well as teach the student how to produce own material in a GIS program such as ArcGIS. This includes for example learning how to draw maps, geo-reference scanned maps and aerial photographs, import cartographic material and use positioning data from other sources (such as hand held GPS) in ArcMap, as well as exporting cartographic material for use in other programs.
