Objective
The student:
- masters the basics of dimensioning and has sufficient prior knowledge for the following courses in building mechanics and dimensioning
- masters key elements in building mechanics as a work tool for future courses and tasks
- can calculate force quantities with emphasis on the equilibrium principle.
- have an understanding of building mechanics problems
- can make clear calculations and present them
Content
- Construction types & loads
- Force, bending moment, force system
- Equilibrium conditions, support reactions
- Trusses
- Calculation of internal forces of statically determined structures (beams, frames)
- Deformation calculations
- Handbook formulas
Professional skills practiced:
To be able to present their calculations
To know the subject area's concepts and terminology
To search for suitable sources to expand their knowledge in the field
