Objective
The student
- is familiar with classification processes and requirements developed by national and international maritime authorities of autonomous vessels.
- has an overall picture of safety and security on autonomous vessels including risk assessment. processes and risk handling.
- understands the role & responsibilities of ship masters / operators and ship owners.
Content
-Requirements developed by national and international maritime authorities of autonomous vessels.
-The role of classification societies.
-Safety and security on autonomous vessels including risk assessment, processes and risk handling.
-The role & responsibilities of ship masters / operators and ship owners.
-Simulator exercise including risk assessment.
Location and time
2-3. November 2023 on campus, classroom to be announced later. Simulator exercise initially planned for Friday afternoon.
23-24. November 2023 on campus/ distance depending on how many participants plan to attend on-site. Time for assignments.
Materials
Links to articles and other material will be provided in Moodle.
Teaching methods
Lectures, self study, small exercises, simulator exercises, guest lecturers, reflective report and course assignment. Course assignment can be done individually or in groups of 2-3 participants.
