Objective

The student
- can identify and fix plant nutrient deficiencies
- know the origin, manufacturing processes and properties of mineral fertilizers
- can apply methods to optimize the crop's utilization of applied mineral fertilizers

Content

Plants' uptake and transport of nutrients
Calculating plant nutrient supply
Simple N, P and K mineral fertilizers (manufacturing and properties)
Other fertilizer minerals (manufacturing and properties)
Composite NPK mineral fertilizers (manufacturing and properties)
Fertilization strategies and fertilizer technology for increased nitrogen and phosphorus efficiency
The course is based on several of the global sustainability goals, mainly the goals of Responsible consumption and production, Life on land and Climate action.
