Objective

• The students can apply their own knowledge, analyze the skin, plan and perform treatments for the client
• The students can apply their own knowledge, analyze anatomical conditions, plan and create makeups for the client
• The students can apply different techniques with instruments, tools and products in beauty care and makeup
• The students can recommend care treatments and make-up for the client as well as give advice on self-care
• The students know nail technology and different ways to create nails
• The students follow good industrial hygiene
• The students can apply, analyze and develop an approach that promote economic, ecological and social sustainability and consumption of treatments, services and product use

Materials

Study material on Moodle or according to the lecturer.

Teaching methods

Lectures, narrative teaching, information retrieval, demonstrations, practical exercises, workshops, salon work, study visits, and teamwork.

Exam schedules

The examination consists of submitted assignments, practical and theoretical exams, as well as participation in practical exercises during lessons. Examination in autumn 2025. Instructions for the examination are given by each teacher at the beginning of course part.

Valeria's part, 5cr: The examination consists of a submitted assignment, a practical exam, and participation during practical exercises in class, grade: 0–5.
1.Course assignment: The Power of Makeup (makeup on mature skin), 1,5cr.
2. Practical makeup exam in class, 1,5cr.
3. Participation and activity during practical exercises in class, 2cr.

Johanna's part, 3cr:
1. Group essay
2. Individual work
3. Theoretical test
4. Practical test

Completion alternatives

Approved practical assignments, practical and theoretical exams, course assignments and activity. Feedback is given individually or as group feedback after finished course.

Valeria's part, 5cr: one approved course assignment, a practical makeup exam, and active participation in practical exercises in class (activity), grade 0–5.

Johanna's part, 3cr: Approved tasks, theoretical and practical test, grade 0-5.

The student demonstrates superficial competence and basic understanding of the subject

The student has an immerse competence and shows a deeper understanding of the subject in relation to the upcoming profession

Assessment methods and criteria

The course is evaluated based on grades (0-5) for assignments (individual, pair and/or team). The average of the grades for assignments form the final grade in the course.

Assessment criteria, fail (0)

The student has not followed the instructions of the assignment and shows especially vague competences within the theme.
The assignments are inadequate or lacking.
The student has not participated or contributed anything during the course.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2)

The student has partly followed the instructions of the assignments and demonstrates superficial competence and basic understanding of the subject.
The content of submitted assignments are satisfactory.
The student has participated in the course, but the commitment and activity have been low or satisfactory.

The student has almost or has fullfilled the instructions of the assignments and demonstrates good or eminently good competence within the subject.
