Objective

Objectives: The student is able to describe the laboratory services in the social and health care sector as well as understands the entire laboratory work process in patient care. With this practice the student is capable to understand the laboratory research process in clinical physiology.

Tasks during the clinical practice:
- guiding, planning, and executing sample collections,
- handling, storage, and transportation of samples,
- analyzing samples according to quality requirements and recommendations,
- using laboratory equipment in laboratory operations,
- performing quality assessment
- evaluate the reliability of laboratory results and participate in the reporting of laboratory tests
- assess their own professional development
- implement the principles of sustainable development in laboratory operations.

Content

Clinical work practice in clinical physiology and neurophysiology as well as nuclear medicine.
The course is aimed at open UAS students who have applied for licensure from Valvira for their previous degree but need to complete an internship in Finland.

Teaching methods

Student workload

The student works at the practice organisation 37,5 h / week. Additionally 2,5 h / week is for assignments during practice (selfstudies).
