Objective
After completing the course, the student is expected to be able to:
- Discuss teaching, education and learning from an art education perspective.
- Plan, implement and reflect on teaching with the support of supervisors and fellow students.
- Analyse teacher-student interaction based on teaching situations.
- Identify opportunities and challenges of group teaching.
- Reflect on the mission of subjects in basic art education and society and analyse and discuss subject-specific goals in the curriculum.

Content
a) Listening to lectures and own lessons, including tutorials and own work:
- 4 lessons of own group teaching.
- 10 lessons of listening to group teaching in basic art education.
b) Introductory pedagogical and subject didactic lectures:
- Prerequisites for teaching.
- Observation of interaction in teaching situations.
- Art educator as a profession.
- Subject didactic conditions for teaching.
- Final discussion with evaluation.
c) Report on one's own practice and how it relates to the curriculum in basic art education.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed
To pass the course, the student must meet the learning objectives and course content, as well as submit an internship report
Qualifications
Students are expected to present a criminal record extract before starting the traineeship (in accordance with University Act 558/2009, § 43).

- The course is part of pedagogical studies for teachers, basic studies.
- The course is conducted in collaboration with the teacher education program at Åbo Akademi, which also serves as the examiner for 60 credits of pedagogical studies for teachers.
