Objective

The student
- masters the process of monitoring the expectant mother and foetus during pregnancy
- knows about risk factors associated with pregnancy and childbirth and is capable to prevent and intervene at an early stage
- can identify mothers and future parents in need of extra support and monitoring
- knows how to monitor, handle referrals, guide and counsel the woman and family during pregnancy and puerperium
- has the skills to plan and implement family and parenting preparation in antenatal classes
- has basic knowledge of normal childbirth and can manage emergency childbirth
- has knowledge of relationships, parenting and early interaction
- masters the care and monitoring of the new mother and the new-born child
-has the competence to respect the cultural affiliation of the woman and her family
-can work within various networks and teams to support the woman and her family

Content

Tutoring, counseling and support for the family who are expecting children and for the new family
Follow-up of the expectant mother and fetus during pregnancy
Recurrent and comprehensive health examinations, screenings
Normal and complicated pregnancy and puerperium
Early identification of risk factors and early intervention in complications during pregnancy and infancy
Family and parent preparation
The course of the normal and abnormal birth, treatment in acute delivery
Follow-up and care of the new mother and the newborn baby
Multi-professional and multicultural health care work
