Objective

The student:

- knows central concepts and theoretical discussions in leadership and organization studies
- is able to choose suitable research methods for leadership related research problems
- is able to choose suitable research methods for research problems related to organizational issues
- understands how a theoretical perspective affects one's view on organizations and/or leadership

Content

- Introduction to theories in leadership and organization studies
- Applying theories in practice, i.e. analyzing empirical material using a theory. The analysed item can be student's own organization.

Location and time

Classes in NOVIA UAS in the Auriga building.
Digi through mainly Webex

Materials

Presentations to be handed out through the Moodle system
Recommended literature to be communicated during lectures

Teaching methods

Oral introductions to areas in Organization and Leadership.
Assignments
Group work and presentation of it.
Potentially writing a key-learning note (reflecion paper)

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student can see the connection between the described theory and the analysed empirical material.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student uses theories to analyse empirical material and can develop good descriptions on cases.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student is able to apply theories on empirical material, and can develop good descriptions on cases. The delivered assignments show an ability to understand underlying issues in the analysed item, and shows that the student understands the connection between theory and practice.

Assessment criteria, fail (0)

Reports not handed in or at an unacceptable level of quality (including missed DLs) of the reports and/or presentations. None or low activity in physical and/or webb class.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2)

Report handed in and presented, and the potential KLN handed in. All reports at an approvable level of quality. Student's activity at an accetable level.

Assessment criteria, good (3-4)

Good or very good work input overall: Report/s handed in and presented (if in curriculum). KLN handed in (if part of course). Written reports of high quality. Good activity in the class, eg at the discussions, presentations, company visits.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Exceptional quality overall: the written Reports, potential presentations, KLN, student activity.
