Objective
The student will:
-become familiar with concepts related to culture, health and nursing and Nordic Well Fare
-be able to recognize phenomena like racism and xenophobia, and understand how they can affect good nursing care
-become aware of cultural safety, cultural blindness and cultural imposition and be able to apply that knowledge to the nursing process
-obtain knowledge about epidemiology and relate it to different geographical areas and health risks specific for different areas
-obtain knowledge about trends in global health
-be able to explain the social determinants of health
-be able to describe some of the major global challenges impacting health
-be able to distinguish health inequality from health inequity
-be able to explain the influence of inequality on health outcomes
-obtain knowledge about tropical diseases and their aetiology
-become aware of the modes of transmission, prevention, treatment and care related to extremely contagious diseases
-recognize the organizations working for global issues in health care
-understand the challenges of working in difficult areas
