Objective

The student can plan, implement and assess the follow-up of health, wellbeing and resources of expecting families as well as of families with infants
The student recognizes risks and complications related to pregnancy and labour and can, if necessary, consult experts in the field of maternal health care
The student is familiar with the course of labour and knows how to handle an emergency childbirth
The student can, by use of resource promoting methods, counsel the clients in aspects related to pregnancy, labour, couple relations and family planning

Content

The service system in maternal health care, the healthcare chain, multi-professional work
Regular and comprehensive health examinations, screenings
Normal as well as complicated pregnancy and puerperium
Identification and care of health risks and complications
Social awareness (current challenges)
The course of normal and abnormal delivery, pain relief, emergency delivery
Final Examination
Resource promoting methods, support for family resources, parenting, family health and well-being, multi-professional health care work
Guidance in relation to the waiting and child bed time and support to the pregnant and family during pregnancy and child bed time
Family Planning
Family planning, sexual and reproductive health, couple relationship
Socio-economic security when the family has children
