Objective

The student obtains a deeper knowledge of the elderly patient’s distinctive features and understands the significance of safe medication management within the gerontological care
The student can in an interprofessional team plan, implement, assess and document patient centered gerontological care and home care
The student demonstrates skills in central methods involving evidence-based nursing and is able to perform clinical examinations, measuring of functions and gerontological nursing
The student applies the principles of nursing practice within various gerontological nursing contexts
The student demonstrates a resource promoting, reflective and ethical approach when guiding patients to take responsibility for their role in their own health care as well as functional abilities

The normal aging
The needs and quality of life of the elderly from the perspective of the client/patient
The municipal elderly care and resource-promoting perspectives in person-centered elderly care
ICF classification system on functional states, disabilities and health, and the use of tests and gauges
