Location and time

The course is divided into three different workshops, taking place on March1 st (solar power and profitability), March 15th (logistics in the archipelago) and April 20th (circular economy in the health sector) at Henriksgatan 7, Turku. The themes of the workshops are different but are all connected to circular economy and sustainability.

Materials

Material regarding circular economy; lectures, reports and internet links to current sources are provided in connection with the course Introduction to Circular Economy. In addition, the students are expected to search for sources connected to the specific challenge they are working on.

Teaching methods

The course consists of three workshops in circular economy. Students can choose to participate in 1,2 or all 3 and receive 1 credit per workshop they participate in. The workshops consist of key notes as well as group work. Assignments before and after the workshop are included. The course is connected to the self-study course Introduction to Circular Economy, which is recommended before the workshops.

Employer connections

The workshops are carried out in cooperation with companies within the CCEF and Myrsky projects.

Exam schedules

The workshops will take place in March (1st and 15th) and April (20th) 2023.

International connections

The workshops are carried out in collaboration with different companies and other stakeholders. The language may vary (Swedish, Finnish).

Assessment methods and criteria

The Student:
- is familiar with the latest trends when it comes to sustainability in business
- knows where to find sufficient and accurate information about the subject
- knows how to identify controversies and problems within the subject (e.g. green washing)
- can identify sustainable business opportunities and can give suggestions how to make these opportunities profitable for companies

Assessment criteria, fail (0)

Failing to participate in workshops and hand in assignments

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2)

Student participates in the workshops but contribution is small. Level of assignments is low.

Assessment criteria, good (3-4)

Student participates actively in workshops and contributes to the group's work. Results are useful for the involved stakeholders. Level of handed in assignments is good.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Student participates very actively in workshops, shows initiative and ambition to come up with the best solution for the challenge at hand. The results are innovative and can be applied by the stakeholders. Level of handed in assignments is very good.
