The student:
- understands and can apply the steps of a research process

- is able to carry out critical source selection and learns about correct language use with regard to structure and style
- has insights into how AI can be utilized in research
- can draw up a research plan

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
The student can describe the basic steps of the research process and demonstrates a fundamental understanding of each step.
The student can ethically apply a basic research or development method with some guidance.
The student is familiar with the fundamental structure of a scientific text.
The student can identify and use basic sources but shows limited critical ability in selecting sources.
The student has a basic understanding of how AI can be utilized in research.
The student can compile a simple research plan with support, though the plan often lacks detail and depth.

The student can independently plan the various steps of the research process and understands how they are interconnected.
The student can ethically apply a research or development method correctly and without extensive guidance, demonstrating an understanding of the method's strengths and weaknesses.
The student can analyze a well-structured scientific text with clear arguments and correct use of academic formats and citation styles.
The student demonstrates the ability to critically evaluate and select relevant and reliable sources, and integrates these into a well-supported scientific text.
The student has a good understanding of how AI tools can support the research process, particularly in data analysis and information retrieval, with some understanding of the limitations of these tools.
The student can create a research plan with a well-developed methodology and clear timeline, and can justify the choice of research question and method.
