Descriptions
The studies to be a biomedical laboratory scientist includes collection of specimens, sample preparation and performing analyzes as well as patient-near examinations using apparatus. The studies include handwork, which requires dexterity and accuracy.
Bioanalytics is based on biomedical laboratory science with the support of knowledge in biomedical science. One aspect of the programme is the emphasis on sustainable development and awareness of the global goals included in Agenda 2030.
The work of the biomedical laboratory scientist contains many different tasks and can be quite diverse in various fields.
The studies contain small-group work, lectures, independent and virtual studies, laboratory work, various examinations, work-life-based projects. Supervised clinical studies (internships) are included in the studies already in the second semester and continue with 8-10 week periods in clinical laboratories at health centers, hospitals and in the private sector. The clinical studies provide opportunities for students to grow into the profession and make valuable contacts in future working lives.
The program provides international qualifications at the bachelor's level (Bachelor) within the EU. After graduation, the biomedical laboratory scientist is expert in laboratory work and can plan, document, realize, lead, and develop the laboratory activities, both independently and in collaboration with other professional groups. A biomedical laboratory scientist can work in various laboratories in health care, in public and private institutions as well as in research and companies.
Objective
