Objective

The Student:
- understands normal aging and can assess the health, functional ability, and resources of the older adult, as well as support their choices regarding health and self-care
- has knowledge of central geriatric diseases, chronic and complex conditions, and their significance in acute illness
- has knowledge of legislation and national strategies and recommendations concerning the older population
- is familiar with social- and healthcare services
- masters evidence-based nursing care and rehabilitation methods and appropriate medication management in geriatric nursing care
- has knowledge of home care, home hospitals, long-term nursing care and family care
- has a health-promoting, rehabilitative, and ergonomic approach
- can guide older patients and perform clinical examinations, functional assessments, and treatments
- has knowledge of welfare technology and technical aids for older adults
