Objective

The Student:
– is familiar with the objectives, key legislation and service structures of child protection
– can identify risks and resources in the everyday lives of vulnerable children, young people and families
– can apply strength-based methods and work in accordance with the best interests of the child within child protection services
– can advocate for the best interests of the child in ethical dilemmas

Child protection law and the child protection process
Protective factors in the child and their network
Deficiencies in parenting, risk behaviours in children, and other risk factors
In-home support services in Child Protection
Foster care, institutional care, and aftercare
Child-centered methods
