Descriptions

Studies in interior architecture give an awareness of the different functions of a room, how to design a room and make use of the space, lighting, colour choice and styling. Students will develop their creativity within the field of room planning and interior design.

The goal of the studies is to provide versatile skills and knowledge about the design process as a form of creative and innovative problem solving. Students will develop into professional designers with a secure sense of shape combined with solid knowledge about materials and methods.

The studies offer a combination of theoretical subjects and practical assignments where the students get to practice drawing, visual communication, colour theory, composition, digital tools and three-dimensional design.
Students get access to the school’s workshops for the duration of their studies, and are invited to use them to realise ideas and experiment with new sustainable products for various interior design needs. The design process often starts with an idea, followed by a sketch and then a model.

Team work is important, and students already start to make professional connections during their studies. We work together with trade and industry as well as with projects that are realised within the context of the school. Our focus is on human needs and well-being, as well as striving for new knowledge about sustainable ways of living.
Functional communication between customer, manufacturer and end user are the foundation of all design. During the course of the studies, students will learn to produce plans and drawings that are needed in the process, as well as other necessary documents used in room planning such as room descriptions and room cards.

Sustainability is taken into account in most of the courses – theoretical as well as practical. Students will learn to make ecological, functional and ethical choices of materials and products, how to take the end user into account during the planning process, and how to make aesthetically durable choices.
