Objective
After completing the course, students should have knowledge of everyday psychology and an insight into what is required to lead people in working life. The student has basic insights into labor law.
Content
Everyday psychology and behavioral science as the basis for leadership practices at supervisor or team- leadership level.
A review of the basic leadership theories.
Managing individuals, teams in different types of organizations.
About motivation, development work and follow-up.
About the employment procedure and psychological tests.
The Employment Contracts Act and the Working Time Act.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
The student
- can describe the interactive relationship between employer and employee.
- is aware of the supervisor's role in achieving results and developing a business.
- is aware of the supervisor's need for both technical, legal and social knowledge.
- knows that most work environments today are, in one way or other, connected to international activities.
- is familiar with actors that supervisors work with in everyday life, such as trade unions, occupational health services and education producers.
Assessment criteria, good (3)
The student
- can describe the work management's tasks in a producing or service-producing company.
- understands the importance of the supervisor's initiative and follow-up of the business with the help of various meters and KPI´s. Realize the importance of seeking good examples in their branch or outside of it.
- understands their need for both technical, legal and social knowledge.
- understands the difference in the employer and employee's perspective on working life. Know the core content of labor legislation.
- understands the importance of reporting and communication within management. Have knowledge of the cultural characteristics of different employees.
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
The student
- finds, knows and can make basic interpretations of working time legislation and Union-agreements.
- understands the supervisor's active role in constantly developing and improving a business.
- can develop the basics for reporting within a department.
- can identify motivation factors and have views on how these can be improved.
- understands the importance of open-mindedness and inclusion of different groups in the work community.
- knows the different areas of expertise in a supervisor's network.
- is familiar with the basis for employeeship and shared leadership.
