Objective

The Student:

- has an overall picture about automation and control, what is automated today and what developments are likely or possible in the future.
- can recognize what technology and different solutions is needed for autonomous vessels.
- can recognize what new risks the autonomous vessels will face and how they can be mitigated.

Content

Control Engineering: Dynamical systems, Transfer functions, Feedback control
Autopilot
Sensors and sensor processing
Digital solutions and services
Calculations: Overshoot, damping, stability, controller parameters using different methods etc
Control simulations with Matlab/Simulink

Theory and methodology are poorly understood and implemented in Autonomous Maritime Operation related tasks/ assignments.
Research, communication and documentation are hardly acceptable.
