The curriculum provides a framework for education in Mechanical and Production Engineering. The learning outcomes, objectives, content, methods and assessment criteria of the courses are described. Learning is based on the student first acquiring factual knowledge that is gradually built on in order to develop students' ability to apply, reflect, develop and evaluate future decision-making in companies and other organizations during their studies. Sustainable development is the foundation of our future. Therefore, issues related to sustainability are included in many of our courses, sometimes as central content, sometimes as a setting. From UN's 17 goals for sustainable development, number 7 (Affordable and clean energy), 9 (Industry, innovation and infrastructure) and 12 (Responsible consumption and production) are central in our education. Also goals number 5 (Gender equality), 8 (Decent work and economic growth), 11 (Sustainable cities and communities) and 13 (Climate action) are covered in our courses.
Education in Mechanical and Production Engineering aims on providing good theoretical and practical knowledge that is adapted to the needs of the business community. The versatile and broad education gives students great choices to design their future career. The curriculum provides the student with broad-based technical skills in the areas of mechanical engineering, operation and energy technology as well as automotive and transport technology in order to creatively solve and analyze technical problems. They should have the ability to analyze problems from an economic and sustainable perspective. In addition, the student is equipped with readiness to learn leadership, organizational development, communicative and ethical skills to work within global networks.
The degree program provides students with versatile technical and financial knowledge within mechanical and production engineering. Students develop their analytical ability to solve technical problems and develop new solutions with sustainability in focus. The training gives students insight into organizational structures, leadership and occupational safety.
