Objective
Cross-cultural communication
At the end of the course, the students have become familiar with the concept of cross-cultural communication, being able to identify, discuss and solve possible cultural collisions and challenges. The students are able to present their culture and compare the cultural dimensions of (a) culture with another. The students are aware of the cultural variety and the specific cultural features in Finland.
Academic writing and technical English
The students recognize the three varieties of the English language and can identify the styles and contexts where they are used. The students can identify and create engineering related documents using the appropriate style. The students get to know the special features of written academic English and know how to apply the academic style to their own written documents.
