- has established a basic workflow for photo editing
- is familiar with the basics of Adobe Lightroom, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Bridge
- is familiar with the different creative tools of Photoshop
- is informed about the technical equipment available at the department such as equipment for sound recording, video recording and photography, printers, a 3D printer, laser cutter and other tools, and have a basic ability to use these tools

Upon completion of the course, students are expected to have an understanding of game development and insight into all the creative processes involved in game development.

Content

Game development in teams or individually.
Participate in a game jam organised by Novia (e.g. Global Game Jam) and create a game or game prototype alone or in a group. You can create a digital game, a board game, or card game. The ideal size of a group is 3-4 people.

Content

Through the courses Art History 1 and Art History 2, you will gain knowledge about the major movements in Western art history and the background of various ideas and styles. You will familiarize yourself with the artists and expressions of different epochs and understand how the ideas of past eras still influence the visual culture of our time. Classical art history is combined with contemporary visual cultural studies, and we include everything from artworks to mass images, architecture, and design. What makes certain visual works stronger than others, and what do the works say about the time they were created in? You will practice seeing and understanding, deciphering codes, and developing critical thinking as well as the ability to express yourself in reflective writing. In filmed interviews, you will meet people working in the cultural and art fields who discuss the importance of knowing cultural history to understand one’s own identity and other cultures.

Learning goals of the study period (course)
The student:
- is able to formulate an idea and realise it using the tools provided by the course
- has established a basic workflow for layout work
- is familiar with the basics of Adobe InDesign
- is informed about the technical equipment available at the department such as equipment for sound recording, video recording and photography, printers, a 3D printer, laser cutter and other tools, and have a basic ability to use these tools
- has theoretical familiarity with 3D technology and how to use it

After completing this course, the student is expected to:
• be able to recognize important tendencies in painting, and actively follow contemporary developments in painting
• be able to give a summary of the purposes, materials, techniques and tools of painting, as well as occupational safety in theory and practice
• be able to view the field of contemporary art through the lens of painting, and be able to show the results of their own work in public
• present an overview of painting as a phenomenon, its tradition, and current contemporary trends in painting
